Labral Tears

A labral tear is an injury to the cartilage of the hip socket. It occurs due to excessive forces being placed on the hip and causes reduced flexibility, weakness and pain in the front and side of the hip . Rehab for labral tears often focuses on strengthening the hip flexor and glute medius muscles due to their lack of muscle activation . These smaller muscle groups are often forgotten about as we tend to focus on our bigger muscles groups like our glute max and hamstrings. This can cause imbalances and lead to injuries such as labral tears . Since attending Coastal Fitness Physio John’s flexibility and strength has improved greatly. He has reported becoming pain free with walking and standing which were identified as being his main goals . If you have an injury that is holding you back, now is the time to get it looked at.
